Y20  Epitaph of Jung Un 

       ( Yi Sun-shin In front of the Tombstone of his navy officer Jung Un )  

   Admiral Yi Sun-shin himself composed the epitaph for his navy officer, Jung Un; 

   “ You are still alive even though your body thrown for the country is dead.

Mournful, who else would understand my innermost feelings in this world?                                                                            

Here is pouring a cup of rice wine with all my true heart.

Alas! Lamentation.”

The transient evening light is passing the scenery to create a melancholic

mood. The Admiral’s expressive face enhances the mood of tragic meditation.

By the technique and the use of light the sobriety enhances the grave nature of the portrait and vibrant and luminous quality of painting impasto.
